There were more than 200 prints on display at the Harpenden Photographic Society's annual exhibition in the High Street Methodist Church on April 27.

A near record-breaking 300 visitors voted for their top three images, which were on a variety of themes including wildlife, macro, landscape, portrait, street and digital art.

Peter Stevens' Cold and Alone came third, Geoff Buckland's Moon Boots received silver place, and Tom Couch's Close Encounter was crowned the winner.

Publicity officer at the society, Steve Collins, said: “It was spectacular - I think this year we have had some of the best images we ever had, which is testament to the way the photographic society helps people develop their work.”
