Mysterious statues of World War One soldiers have cropped up around Harpenden this week.
Harpenden Town Council has purchased three six-foot-tall statues to commemorate the end of World War One and placed them in the High Street, Southdown and Batford.
The three are part of a national initiative called ‘There But Not There’, where statues of soldiers are installed in the communities they left behind to fight for their country.
The council say they see it as a way of recognising those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
