The inaugural Southdown Festival raised roughly £2,000 for charity last weekend.
The event was held between Friday and Sunday and featured comedy nights, poetry readings, hymn recitals and its very own beer festival.
Harpenden town mayor David Heritage said: “What a wonderful weekend, when so many enjoyed the first Southdown Festival. Let’s hope this is the first of many.”
One of the organisers, retired journalist Irvine Hunter, 65, said: “We were kind of flying by the seat of our pants at times organising this, but the community really bought into it and had a great time.
“With the experience of putting on the first festival under our belts, we are already planning to make next year’s even better.”
The festival raised around £2,000 for Herts Young Homeless, Harpenden Mencap and The Royal Marsden Hospital.
