An informal meeting is being held in Harpenden next month offering advice on how to hold a street party.

The street party information session will be held by Sustainable St Albans from 10.30am to 11.30am on Tuesday, March 5, at the Harpenden Arms in High Street.

The meeting will cover topics such as consulting a neighbour, filling forms and how to physically close a road.

Attendees will also be advised on how to build on the community cohesion a street party brings - including ‘Playing Out’, where residents choose to close their road to traffic regularly to allow children to play out in the street.

According to Sustainable St Albans, a ‘Playing Out’ initiative will soon be trialled in Harpenden and St Albans. As part of the initiative, roads can be closed at a set time, for example one Sunday a month for two hours, allowing children to play, cycle and scoot freely.
