New wildlife festival comes to Harpenden

A new festival to celebrate the animals and plants in Harpenden's green spaces is launching this summer.
There will be sweep netting, wildflower planting, dead wood discovery, storytelling, bird watching, scavenger hunts, and nature crafts at WildFest, which is taking place in Lydekker Park.
It has been set up by Harpenden Town Council (HTC) as part of its Lively in Lydekker summer series - which sees three events in the park over the sunny months.
Lyndhurst Financial Management is sponsoring Lively in Lydekker. Its director, Geoff Newman, said: "The WildFest event should be a great occasion to celebrate Harpenden's fantastic green spaces."
Other Lively in Lydekker events are a Teddy Bears' Picnic on August 7 and Music in Lydekker on August 31.
Wildfest is on July 13 from 10am to 2pm and there is no booking required.
