A new book has been published to coincide with the 70th birthday of the Harpenden Trust.

‘70 Not Out’ by Pamela Mann covers the past 28 years of an organisation that has helped townspeople since 1948.

Mann’s book explains why the trust converted to a limited company; how it came to earn the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service during its 60th anniversary; and how the Abbeyfield Benefaction enabled the trust to begin helping community groups.

The book is available for £5 at the Trust Centre on Southdown Road, News 4U newsagent on Station Road and Harpenden Town Council’s offices on Leyton Road.

• ‘A Lifeboat Moored in Harpenden’ by former chairman Reg Davis covered the trust’s history to 1990.
