Cubs in Harpenden presented a cheque for £615 to the Harpenden-based charity Spotlight on Africa.
Cubs from 10th Harpenden Swift Pack organised stands, stalls and games and sold home-made cakes, hand-made key rings and ran all manner of activities during a special Enterprise Evening at their HQ.
Each Six (team) competed for customers and for profit. The funds raised will go towards a much needed First Aid kit, tents, uniforms, a flag and other equipment for the Scout group in Musoto, a slum in eastern Uganda.
District Scout commissioner Russell Brooks said: “Swift Pack Cubs should be proud of their achievements. Their contributions are going to make a really positive, long-lasting difference to the children of Musoto.”
Wendy Howson from Spotlight on Africa said: “It was truly inspiring to see the enthusiasm and support by the Harpenden Cubs for children of the same age who live in deprived conditions in a slum outside Mbale and who have formed a Scout group there.
“We are all deeply grateful for such a generous donation!”
