Sixth form pupils at a school in Harpenden have been raising money to support a local food bank.

Pupils from Goddard House at St George’s School were supporting St Albans’ food bank programme, FEED, as well as two national charities.

Tuckshop events led by a team of determined sixth form prefects raised more than £1,300.

Year 13 charity prefects Jess de Lange and Max Curtis said: “This was one of our favourite events as we were able to see the fruits of our efforts and support those who live locally who are in need.”

Head of Goddard House, Jon Day, added: “The commitment and dedication of our sixth form students in leading these initiatives has been so impressive.”

Money raised was also chosen to support Cancer Research and Shelter UK, following recommendations by pupils in the house.

A whole school cake sale earlier in the year raised over £450 for cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
