Father Christmas’s tour around Harpenden during this festive season raised nearly £8,000 for charity.

Harpenden Round Table’s Santa Float went out almost every night in December, with elves carrying collection tins in aid of four charities.

These are Jubilee House Care Trust, a charity for children with learning disabilities; Luton and Dunstable University Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Appeal; mosquito net distribution charity Against Malaria Foundation; and the Round Table Children’s Wish, who arrange experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Matt Hall, from the Harpenden Round Table, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all the residents of Harpenden who donated and came out to wave to Santa, and also to the other community groups that helped us with the collection: 9th Harpenden Scouts, Harpenden Lions, and Harpenden 41 Club.”
