A Harpenden pub held a charity fundraiser for Prostate Cancer UK to celebrate the landlord’s six-year anniversary at the job.
The Silver Cup in St Albans Road teamed up with Charles Wells Brewery over the past year to raise money for people with prostate cancer, raising around £2,000 in total.
On Sunday, January 27, the pub held a party to celebrate Tony Reeder’s sixth year as landlord and raised a further £1,009 for the charity.
Tony said: “It was my six year anniversary and what I normally do is treat my customers and friends to a bit of lunch and we just had a nice party and some music.
“I decided as a donation to the lunch to take £5 off everyone, and we were also given a large box of chocolates which we raffled off.”
The £2,000 over the past year was raised through various events in the pub, including a football table set up during the World Cup where people had to donate money to Prostate Cancer UK before playing.
They also had a ukelele night with all proceeds going to the charity, and another will be held on Saturday, February 16.
