A long-standing Harpenden photography club has crowned their annual competition winner this year.
Peter Wilson has been named Photographer of the Year in the internal Harpenden Photographic Society (HPS) competitions for 2018/2019.
The club, now in its 83rd year, holds numerous internal contests where images are scored by an external judge. These ratings are then added up towards a cumulative tally.
Peter has been given his title by entering consistently high-quality snaps into these competitions and racking up the most number of points overall.
He said: "I am delighted to become this year's Photographer of the Year. My interests in photography range from macro shots of insects to portraits taken in the studio.
"I tried to show a wide range of these photos this year and it is very rewarding that they have been recognised by the judges throughout the year."
Other HPS members were also commended in specific categories. Peter Stevens won the colour print category; Malcolm Jenkins and Gillian Jones were joint winners of monochrome print; and Peter Whitehead topped digital projected images (DPI) .
The winners of different HPS competitions were also announced - Peter Wilson got gold for his Panel of Three, Steve Collins came up trumps for Audio Visual, and the Most Popular Exhibition image was taken by Tom Couch.
HPS chairman Peter Stevens said: "It's a great achievement to win our Photographer of the Year award.
"The winner has to show consistently high levels of technical and creative skills, and this year's winner, Peter Wilson, has certainly done just that.
"I'm delighted to offer many congratulations for a well deserved result."
There are about 50 active HPS members, who attend meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month from September to June.
HPS' next season starts on September 3.
