Book signing success for Harpenden historian

A popular Harpenden historian is chuffed with the roaring success of his book signing last weekend.
John Cooper has released a pictorial history book documenting the town from 1914, through the interwar years, into World War Two, and then in the aftermath, called Harpenden: A Village in Wartime.
He uses an extensive postcard collection to paint a vivid picture of what living through conflict was like.
It is published by Amberley and has been released in tribute to the people of Harpenden who lived, served, and died throughout the two world wars.
John was in Harpenden Books on November 17 from 10.30am to 1pm for his book signing.
He was told the book had sold out from both Threads and Harpenden Books.
“It went very well indeed,” John said. “It was no JK Rowling, but for a local historian it went really well and was very busy. Comments were very positive.”
He said buyers were sometimes picking up more than one copy, ticking off Christmas presents early.
John added: “I have done numerous book signings but this was one of the best.”
This is John’s 11th book. He is already working on two new titles to be released next year - Harpenden History Tour and Lost Watford.
He has already published an impressive collection, including Harpenden Through Time and A Postcard From Harpenden.
