Kids have been attending the Dinky Dancers classes with their parents for over a year now.

Willow Court’s home manager Sarah Adlam said: “We have been encouraging intergenerational activities for a very long time now.

“The activities have mutual benefits for both our residents and the children.

“Also, we must remember that not all children have grandparents around and so miss out on the interaction with older people which is important in developing social and communication skills.

“I have parents that ask me if their child can continue to visit a resident as they have built a relationship.

“It sometimes brings tears to my eyes when the little tots come in beaming with smiles making a beeline for their elderly friends.”

Another intergenerational activity run at the home is the Reading Buddy group, where Year 1 pupils from Aldwickbury School are paired with residents to read together.
